Elan Defence: Hardware Engineer - Test Equipment

Role Summary
The Test Equipment Hardware Engineer is responsible for specifying, designing, developing, and supplying Test Equipment solutions for Avionics and Power product programmes. There are a 2 positions to fill and candidates with Hardware experience are invited to apply. You will demonstrate sound technical knowledge to execute on assignments, identify problems and formulate solutions, and may also be required to be the technical point of contact for test solution suppliers on specific projects/activities.
Essential Responsibilities
Candidates will be expected to have experience in a number, but not necessarily all of the essential responsibilities.
* Design and develop test equipment hardware to production standards, complying with all current regulatory and safety requirements.
* Generate a documentation suite for the hardware from original requirements through to formal release procedures.
* Design and commission hardware implementation.
* Develop flexible design solutions which are appropriate and scalable to end user requirements.
* Verification and subsequent pro-active modification, during test equipment and test item integration.
* Re-use of tried and tested functional blocks, coupled with innovative design methodologies where re-use is not appropriate.
* Liaise with project, manufacturing, test equipment, in-service personnel and other stakeholders to capture original and changed requirements.
* Support the Integration and commissioning of the hardware with test software and units-under-test.
* Ensure that all Design for Test (DFT) issues are fed back to the Engineering Team and reviewed with other stakeholders.
* Technical liaison with suppliers, generating Statements of Work (SOW) and compliance with Export controls.
Qualifications / Requirements
* Degree in Engineering or equivalent knowledge and experience
* Experience of developing hardware for high integrity electronics/computing equipment.
* Good understanding of test philosophies and types of testing employed in the development and release of high integrity products.
Desired Characteristics
* Experience of test equipment design, development, and hardware/software integration.
* Competence in the use of Microsoft applications (Excel, Access, Word, 2003 Project).
* Ability to communicate at all levels and present information concisely.
* Flexible approach to problem solving.
* Ability to deliver solutions on-time, to budget and required quality
* Ability to manage change and obsolescence issues.
