The Position:

The role holder will manage and successfully deliver large, complex and strategic IT projects, involving multiple executive level stakeholders and large subcontractors, to meet defined business requirements within agreed timescales and cost. Responsible for EG-IT project delivery capability, ensuring that projects are delivered in line with the priorities of the Emirates Group, that project delivery is measured as well as driving continuous improvements to the delivery capability.

Job Outline:

Responsible, to the IT Project Sponsor (usually an MIT, Senior or Exec Manager), for the delivery of IT projects across the Emirates Group.
Report on and monitor performance of all projects so that EG-IT and Emirates Group have visibility of the overall delivery record and status of the work program.
Analyse, identify and manage problem projects and or underlying patterns of project problems and ensure that they are addressed quickly and appropriately.
Take responsibility for all the project related tools and Forums (e.g. PM Forum). Work closely with ITSA to ensure that the Quality Management System is appropriate to assess the quality of project management processes
Fully accountable for the financial performance of assigned EG-IT Projects, driving on or below budget delivery.
Fully accountable for the effective utilization of Project Managers ensuring optimization of each Project Manager as well as optimization of the Project Management Group
Define the strategy for Project Management based on industry benchmarking, implementing it and maintaining it, specifically deciding which industry standards and certification to align with (PM BOK etc).
Accountable for the Project Management discipline setting clear targets for improvement areas, and goals for the quality and level of Project Management competency within EG-IT, which is critical to the delivery of projects to Emirates Group business units, ensuring the quality is as expected. Measure the level of project management competence across EG-IT. Drive improvement of project management practices, procedures, methodologies and standards including Risk and Issue Management, Stakeholder Management, Planning, Vendor and Contract Management. Keep up to date on industry standards and research. Provide specialist project management and delivery consultancy to support external customers and senior business managers as required
Delivery of assigned projects, which are large in size, strategic or highly complex or a portfolio of projects, coordinating with senior business managers, other departments of the Emirates Group and other sections of IT. Manage one or more large and strategic IT external partner or subcontractor (such as Offshore providers or off the shelf system providers), where contract values are high and where there contribution is significant to the scope and success or failure of the project(s)
Ensure that all Project Managers meet the required benchmark. Responsible for designing and managing the recruitment and development assessment tools and processes, in conjunction with Recruitment, Training and the Manager of Sourcing, for all new Project Managers and the development of existing Project Managers
Line manage a number of project managers and software engineers from the Project and Software Groups and be responsible for the delivery performance of their projects. Coach and support staff to deliver projects to the best of their ability on time, budget and scope. In addition, work cohesively with the other Senior Project Managers to rank all the project managers and ensure consistency in evaluation of performance and reward as well as to deciding on the right person to be assigned to each project
Member of the IT-SS Senior Management Team responsible for; supporting definition of EG-IT objectives and priority areas, defining IT-SS goals and objectives, establishing effective action plans in the department to support EG-IT Objectives, assessing IT-SS performance against EG-IT objectives. Member of the EG-IT Senior Management Team (SMT).

Qualifications:

Degree or Honours (12 3 or equivalent)
Qualifications/ Trainings: Degree or Honours in a subject relevant to IT (12 3 or equivalent) & PMP Certification or other Project or Program Management qualification

Experience:

Experience as a strong stakeholder manager, coach/trainer, people manager and a results oriented
manager is preferred. 10 years of IT experience of which the majority should be in a senior project or
program management role. Role holder must have managed one or more large scale project or program in the Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing domain in a large, global enterprise. Information Technology. Project Management 10 Years, Airline experience would be an advantage but not mandatory

Knowledge:

Extensive knowledge of Project and Program Management practices, usually holding a Project Management
Certification from a recognized professional body (such as Project Management Institute). Professional Skills:
Relationship Management, Project/Program Management, Methods & Tools, Specific knowledge of more than one Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing technology solutions and
process improvement, large scale people management, Coaching and Training and large scale vendor management
